Flamengo's under-20 soccer team took the field qualified for the next stage of the São Paulo Junior Soccer Cup on Sunday afternoon (January 17.01). Due to the victories of Corinthians and Sport, the Rubro-Negro team was the best-performing club among those yet to play, and therefore, according to the competition's rules, was already guaranteed a spot in the quarterfinals. On the pitch, the "Mais Querido" (Flamengo) took a 2-0 lead, but Bahia equalized and took the decision to penalties. Flamengo was undeterred by the Tricolor Baiano's comeback and won on penalties, 5-4.
With this result, in the quarterfinals, Flamengo will face the winner of São Paulo x Rondonópolis, which starts at 19:30 pm this Sunday (17.01).

Equality in 90 minutes
Just 35 seconds into the game, Flamengo created a dangerous opportunity with a cross-shot from Lucas Paquetá, but the goals didn't come until the end of the first half. Within five minutes, in the 39th and 44th minutes, Felipe Vizeu, assisted by Paquetá and Thiago Ennes, scored, first with his right foot and then with a header.
Trailing, Bahia returned for the second half, putting pressure on the Rubro-Negro. In the 13th minute, Júnior hit the crossbar. In the 24th minute, Bahia managed to find the back of the net, but the goal was correctly disallowed for offside. The pressure paid off when Geovane Itinga repeated Vizeu's feat and also scored twice, one in the 38th and another in the 39th. With the draw, Bahia took the game to penalties.
