Three representatives of Flamengo's youth football helped the Brazilian National Team win the South American Under-17 Championship on Sunday night (23), undefeated, in Ecuador, after beating Argentina 3-2. Attacking midfielder and the youngest player to score for Mengão's professionals, Lorran started the decisive game among the starters. 

Previously, with two rounds to go, the midfielder was instrumental in qualifying for the World Cup in this category, following a 2-2 draw with Ecuador in the third round. Lorran provided the assist for the goal that helped secure a spot in the competition, which will take place in November of this year, with no venue set. Brazil is the current world champion in this category, thanks to Lázaro's goal in the final against Mexico, in the tournament held on Brazilian soil in 2019.

Lorran had already stood out in the 3-0 victory over Uruguay, scoring a beautiful goal that put Brazil in first place in the group stage. Besides him, goalkeeper Caio Barone and Junior Bezerra, the physical trainer for Mengão's U-17 team, helped the Brazilian national team achieve both its objectives in Ecuador: qualifying for the World Cup in that category and fighting for its 13th title.

It is also worth noting that the coach of the Brazilian U-17 team, Phelipe Leal, had a remarkable time in Flamengo's youth football, winning the Copa do Brasil in 2018, Brasileirão and Adidas Generation Cup, in Dallas, in 2019. All of them for the U-17 team and training athletes such as Lázaro, João Gomes, Rodrigo Muniz, among others.
