Under-15 Ninho boys travel to Portugal
Generation 2009 seeks first international title in 2024
By Victor andrade - inMengão's U-15 team travels this Monday (25) to Portugal, where they will play the IberCup Cascais in the category. A generation that won 7 titles for the U-14 in 2023, the boys born in 2009 are looking for their first victory of the season.
In the 2024 Rio U-15 Cup, the category won its first two matches: 3-0 against Cabofriense and 5-0 against Volta Redonda. The derby against Vasco, which would have been part of the third round, was postponed due to heavy rains in Rio de Janeiro. Coach Vinicius Durante spoke about the preparations and expectations for the IberCup Cascais.

"Unlike last year, we managed to spend more time together. In 2023, I had basically two weeks of training for the competition, and we went to both, both in Madrid and Portugal. Madrid was very demanding physically, and we arrived in Portugal very exhausted. This time, we're going to just one competition, with more players... so we think we'll arrive at a different level, better prepared and closer to a possible title," said Durante.
Of the seven titles won in 2023 by the U-14 team, two were international: the Abano Football Trophy in Italy and the IberCup in Rio de Janeiro. In the U-15 team, this generation is trying to maintain Mengão's winning streak and the motto of youth football: developing winning players.
