Flamengo's youth team debuts in the U-17 Brazil Cup with a victory.

Flamengo defeats Peñarol-DF 4-0 and will now face Atlético-MG in the next round.

On Tuesday afternoon (24), the U-17 Boys from Ninho secured their place in the round of 16 of the category's Copa do Brasil. With goals from Rafael Tenório, Pedro Henrique, Luiz Guilherme and Isaac Gomes, Flamengo beat Penharol-DF by a score of 4-0 at Estádio José Bastos Padilha (Gávea) and now, coach Daniel Franklin's team will face Atlético-MG in the next phase of the competition.

The game

The first major chance for the red-and-black team came in the 8th minute with Andrades, who almost opened the scoring after a corner kick. The number 3 jumped higher than the defense, but his header went wide.

At 21 minutes, the first goal of the game: Rafael Tenório, aAfter a cross from the right, he headed the ball, it hit the post, and he went up to confirm it himself. 

In the 35th minute, Gabriel even managed to extend Flamengo's lead, but he was offside. Nine minutes later, in the 44th minute, Flamengo's second goal came from a well-worked play where the ball reached Pedro Henrique's feet, and the number 10 finished with no chance for the opposing goalkeeper.

In the next minute, the third goal for the Flamengo youth team came from Luiz Guilherme, who dribbled past the goalkeeper and had an open goal to simply push the ball into the back of the net.

After the break, the Brasilia team fought hard, but Flamengo managed to neutralize their opponent's offensive actions. With the result almost decided, there was still time for Isaac Gomes to receive a pass from Amilca in the 26th minute and seal the final score: 4-0, securing a place in the round of 16.

Atlético-MG defeated Porto Vitória-ES 3-2 at home and will face Flamengo in the next round of 16. The first leg will be in Minas Gerais and the second leg in Rio de Janeiro.
