In search of the fifth title of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup, Flamengo learned on Monday night (11) the beginning of the journey in Group 19 of the competition. The debut of the Garotos do Ninho takes place on January 5, 2024, at 17:30 pm, against São José-RS, in Osasco, headquarters of the group.

Mengão's second game will be against São Bento-SP on January 08th at 01:20 pm, with the first stage of the Copinha ending against the local team, Audax, on January 30th at 11:01 pm. Flamengo's preparation began when the U-17 team returned from vacation on December 30th. This Monday, coach Mario Jorge had a training session at Gávea with an eye on the competition that begins in early 20.

Four-time champion, looking for his 5th title

Mengão has won four São Paulo Junior Football Cups. The first is always special, and it was won by a spectacular generation in 4. Led by Piá, Júnior Baiano, Marcelinho Carioca, Djalminha, and Paulo Nunes, Flamengo defeated Juventus-SP 1990-1, with a goal from the defender, and lifted the trophy. The second victory came in 0, with César, Adryan, Negueba (who scored in the final against Bahia, winning 2011-2), and company.

The third championship was won in 2016 in a thrilling penalty shootout against Corinthians, 4-3, after a 2-2 draw. And the fourth title was in 2018, with Wendel's only goal against São Paulo, at Pacaembu.
