With the most successful youth academy in the country in 2018, Flamengo has been providing players to the Brazilian National Team in various categories. Last Friday (14), coach Paulo Vitor Gomes selected three Flamengo players to participate in two friendlies against Chile, on September 27 and 30. Aiming at next year's South American U-15 Championship, this is the third phase of preparation, which will run from September 23 to 30 at Granja Comary, in Teresópolis (RJ). The Garotos do Ninho called up to the U-15 National Team are midfielders Victor Hugo and Matheus França, and striker Petterson. Born in 2004, the Flamengo trio belongs to the U-14 category, and is regularly called up for matches in the U-15 category. Flamengo is consolidating itself in the Brazilian scene as a team that develops players by winning competitions. Those selected by coach Paulo Vitor won this year the first edition of the Taça Donos da Bola Sub-14, in July, and the Taça Guanabara Sub-15, last Saturday (15). In addition to the two achievements, midfielder Victor Hugo also took the Copa Nike in April, an international level competition that qualified the Mais Querido for the World Cup in Austria.
