Time to seize the chance

With an eye on the Copa do Brasil, the under-20 team plays against Serra Macaense without starters

Flamengo will face Serra Macaense today (07.09), at 15 pm, at the Municipal Stadium of Frade, in Macaé, for the second round of the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament. As next Wednesday (11.09) the Most Beloved will have a decisive clash with Portuguesa, for the Copa do Brasil, Cleber dos Santos, despite respecting this Saturday's opponent, decided not to use the starters in this afternoon's game.

"We're going with an alternative team, different from the one that started the Copa do Brasil, to give opportunities to other players who are in the squad and fit to play. The main objective is to give this chance to those who are on the bench and those who haven't played much so they can show their football skills," said the coach.

The highly anticipated match against Lusa has yet to be scheduled for a stadium, but it will be in Rio de Janeiro, as Flamengo is the home team. In the first leg, Flamengo won 1-0 in São Paulo.

"Based on the U-17 team's performance in the Copa do Brasil, we were able to get a good understanding of the competition, even though they're in different categories. It's important that the U-20 team also performs well. We have some more mature players in the squad who have already played professionally and are taking on the responsibility. In these decisive moments, they have been very important in leading the group," said Cleber dos Santos.
