Goalkeeper Hugo Souza and left-back Michael Rangel have been called up by coach Carlos Amadeu to the Brazilian Under-20 National Team, which will face Chile in two friendly matches on October 13th and 15th, as part of the final preparation phase for the South American Championship in that category, which will also be held in Chile and will qualify the top four teams for the World Cup in Poland in May 2019.

A regular in all of the Under-20 national team call-ups this season, Hugo Souza was recently included in coach Tite's list for the senior team's friendlies against the United States and El Salvador earlier this month, and spoke about the special moment he is experiencing in his career:

“I am very happy and proud of this latest call-up to the Brazilian National Team. It’s always important to be in the group and to be remembered by coach Carlos Amadeu. Being called up is already difficult, but managing to stay in the group is an even greater challenge. Thanks to God and with the help of Flamengo and the entire coaching staff that accompanies me every day, especially the goalkeeping coach Nielsen, I have been maintaining a high level throughout the year and things are happening in my life the way I always dreamed. I remain focused, the work continues, and we will achieve even greater things,” said Hugo Souza.

Michael, who hadn't been called up since the Toulon Tournament in France in 2017, also commented on his call-up for the two friendlies in Chile:

“Football for me is a daily struggle, it means everything in my life and has given me everything I have today. Therefore, being called up once again for the Brazilian National Team is a source of great joy and a feeling of accomplishment. My expectation now is to play well and secure my place in the final squad for the South American Championship in Chile in January,” said Michael. 

Before joining the Brazilian National Team, Hugo Souza and Michael have a scheduled commitment on the 27th, at 21 pm at Barradão, when Flamengo's U-20 team visits Vitória in the first leg of the Brazilian Championship semi-final, with live broadcast on SporTV and ESPN Brasil. They will also be present at the return match, scheduled for October 3rd, in Volta Redonda.
