A member of the 2009 Brazilian championship squad, left-back Jorbison already has considerable experience not only in Flamengo's youth academy but also with the first team. But he wants more than that. The youngster dreams of new opportunities and the opportunity to establish himself in the professional team. After all, this season, he returned to the youth team and is competing in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship.
The Bahia native, just 19 years old, knows it's crucial to excel in the competition to get a chance at the professional level again. A teammate of players like Negueba, Diego Maurício, and Galhardo in the youth team, he knows that his teammates' strong performance under Vanderlei Luxemburgo's guidance is a great gateway for new talents from the youth academy.
"I am very motivated, and God willing, we will have a great Brazilian Championship to boost our team's morale and also so that I can return to the professional ranks next year," he said.
With three appearances for the first team, including two as a starter, Jorbison is one of the biggest revelations from Flamengo's youth academy in recent years, but he's still searching for his first title with the youth team. And he believes Flamengo took an important step toward that goal in its Brazilian Championship debut.
"It was a very good debut, thank God, but the game against Palmeiras is another decision and we have to stay focused to fight for the title," he added.
