Juniors hone their fitness at Ninho
Coach Armênio Moura's team will only play in the State Championship again in over a week
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inFlamengo's youth team won't play again until the weekend of February 27th and 28th, away against Macaé, in the State Championship. Even so, coach Armênio Moura hasn't been giving his young Flamengo talents a rest. He's taking advantage of the days off from official commitments to conduct a sort of offseason with his players.
\The red-and-black youth team has been playing a veritable marathon this year. Many athletes played in the São Paulo Cup in early January, and by the end of the same month, they had already begun competing in the Campeonato Carioca. Therefore, at this time when the coach has a few full weeks to work, it's time to improve their physical fitness and carry out work that couldn't be done at the beginning of the year.
\"Of course everyone likes to play, but it's also important to work on the physical side, because it's this training that will give us good conditioning for matches," said defender Michel Pereira.
\Flamengo is the clear leader in the first round of the Campeonato Carioca de Juniores, boasting the best attack, the best defense, and the competition's top scorer (Diego Maurício). The club is fighting to regain the title, a title it hasn't won since 2007.
