Flamengo's youth team is back in competitive action. Almost a month after their last match on February 7th, the red-and-blacks face Macaé this Saturday at 16 p.m., away from home. Leading the competition with 19 points (six wins and one draw), in addition to boasting the best attack and defense, the red-and-blacks hope to maintain the momentum they enjoyed before the competition was suspended.
The Rio de Janeiro State Football Federation (FERJ) has lifted the injunction that prohibited matches from being played between 10 a.m. and 17 p.m. As a result, the Professional Series B and Junior Series A State Championships resume this weekend. And the players' expectations are high, despite the challenges of returning to play after so long.
"We were looking forward to playing again. Players really like to play, right? Unfortunately, this break happened, but I believe the training was well done. The team has everything it needs to continue at the same pace it had in the first few games," said right-back Galhardo.
This Friday (05.03), the team trained normally at Ninho do Urubu and is confirmed for this Saturday's duel. Goalkeeper Marcelo Carné, who suffered a car accident in Jacarepaguá, last Monday (01.03), will be in the game.
"Thank God, nothing happened. My car rolled over, but I only suffered some minor injuries. I've already trained and I'm going to play against Macaé," said the number 1.
The team will take to the field with Marcelo, Galhardo, Marlon, Christianno and Jorbison; João Vitor, Luiz Antônio, Dieguinho and Saba; Juninho and Diego Maurício.
