The derby between Flamengo and Vasco da Gama for the Rio Juniors Cup had all the makings of a Clássico dos Milhões. It was a tense affair, with numerous red cards... But in the end, the team from São Januário prevailed. The red-and-blacks opened the scoring in the opening minutes through striker Paquetá, but Vasco da Gama turned the tables in the second half and won 3-1. With this result, the team from Gávea fell far behind their rivals, who lead the qualifying stage with 29 points. Flamengo has 22. In the next round, the red-and-blacks have another derby: they face Botafogo, Wednesday at 15 pm, at home.

The match began with the Gávea team quickly opening the scoring. Within a minute of play, a cross into the box was headed by Dudu, and the ball fell to Paquetá, making it 1-0 for Flamengo. The result, however, forced the Vasco team to come out on top. Vasco began to dominate the attacking play, while the red-and-blacks were cornered in their defense. In the 26th minute, Jonathan equalized with a free kick. Vasco continued to play better, seeking a comeback, but Flamengo withstood the pressure until the end of the first half.

In the final 45 minutes, nothing changed. Vasco continued to dominate possession and create the best opportunities, while Flamengo tried to break through on the counterattack. In the 13th minute, Jonathan once again converted a penalty kick to turn the game around. From then on, coach Paulo Henrique's team began to push the game forward, and in the 25th minute, Christianno had a great chance to score, but his shot went over the bar.

Five minutes later, Vasco had a player sent off, and the Red-Blacks let loose even more. However, Paquetá was also sent off before the end. With ten men on each side, Vasco still found a third goal with another penalty kick. Marcelo Carné committed a hard foul on Jonathan, and Max converted the penalty to seal the match, 3-1.

Flamengo played with Marcelo Carné, João Felipe, China, Christianno and Jorbison; Jorginho, Maycon, Elivelton (Eliabe) and Guilherme; Dieguinho and Dudu.
