The derby between Flamengo and Vasco da Gama for the Rio Juniors Cup had all the makings of a Clássico dos Milhões. It was a tense affair, with numerous red cards... But in the end, the team from São Januário prevailed. The red-and-blacks opened the scoring in the opening minutes through striker Paquetá, but Vasco da Gama turned the tables in the second half and won 3-1. With this result, the team from Gávea fell far behind their rivals, who lead the qualifying stage with 29 points. Flamengo has 22. In the next round, the red-and-blacks have another derby: they face Botafogo, Wednesday at 15 pm, at home.
