Like the professional team, Flamengo's youth team continues with a 100% record in the State Championship in its category. Christianno, Diego Maurício, and Juninho scored and led coach Armênio Moura's team to a 3-1 victory over Volta Redonda late last Thursday afternoon. Interestingly, the score was the same as the professional team's victory over the team from the Steel City.

The red-and-black defender and captain, Christianno, paved the way for victory and celebrated the result. According to him, the team had another strong performance, following the 7-1 rout of Duque de Caxias in their debut, and the trend is for even greater improvement.

"The team played very well, it was a very comfortable victory, the team did its part and got another good result. Playing at home, Volta Redonda started putting pressure on us, but after that we managed to score the first goal and evolved naturally," he analyzed.

In the next round, Flamengo faces Bangu on Sunday at 10 a.m. in Moça Bonita. In two games, Flamengo has two wins, ten goals scored, and only two conceded. Three-time Rio de Janeiro champions in 2005, 2006, and 2007, the team hasn't won the U-20 Rio de Janeiro title since then and hopes to end that drought in 2010.
