Flamengo's youth (under-20) soccer team defeated Nova Iguaçu 4-1 in the final qualifying round of the Octavio Pinto Guimarães Tournament (OPG), with goals from Rodolfo, Fernando Fernandes, Fernandinho, and an own goal. Now, Flamengo awaits the end of the round to find out its next opponent in the competition.

The match, held at Gávea, started evenly, but it was Nova Iguaçu who opened the scoring in the 23rd minute of the first half. In the 28th minute, Flamengo put together a good play in the penalty area, and the opposing defender scored an own goal, leveling the score. The Gávea boys continued to advance, and in the 43rd minute, Rodolfo converted a penalty kick to extend the lead.

After the break, the home team gave the opposition no respite and continued to press. Fernando Fernandes scored in the 21st minute, and Fernandinho finished off the rout in the 42nd minute.

The team's coach, Cleber dos Santos, was very pleased with the results obtained in the first stage of the competition - five wins and one draw - and is confident for the next round.

"We finished this first round in first place in the standings and with the best attack in the Tournament. We won't be playing any derbies in the next round and we're very confident that we can continue doing a good job," he declared.
