Flamengo's youth soccer team debuted with a victory in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship on Tuesday night (11/27), against Coritiba, 2-1, at the Passo da Areia Stadium, in Porto Alegre. With the result, Flamengo is in second place in its group, behind Palmeiras, who also won in its debut, but with a goal difference greater.
This Wednesday (28.11), the red-black boys will return to the field, in the same place, to face Novo Hamburgo.
From the opening minutes, Flamengo showed they would dominate the game. However, the red-and-black dominance didn't translate into scoring chances. That was until the 25th minute, when Pedro Paulo opened the scoring after receiving a pass from Maceió.
Rubro-negro continued to dominate the game throughout the first half, but changed their approach at the start of the second half. This allowed Coritiba to gain more ground and quickly equalize. In the eighth minute, Henrique hit the crossbar, but the ball bounced back and went in: 1-1.
After the setback, Flamengo went back to chasing victory, showing desire, but only succeeded in the final minutes, when Thiago received a free ball at the edge of the six-yard box and pushed it into the back of the net.
