Despite still being young, the young players on the Flamengo team competing in the São Paulo Junior Cup already know that there is no favoritism when the ball rolls on the field. Therefore, in this Saturday's semifinal (January 22.01), against Desportivo Brasil, the red-blacks believe in a very balanced match.
Striker Lucas, for example, explains that regardless of the opponent, Flamengo will maintain the same attitude it has shown in all other games – always seeking victory.
"We know it won't be easy. Desportivo Brasil reached the semifinals with a lot of merit, just like us, so it'll be a very balanced match. We'll face them with a lot of determination and desire, as we have in all our games. Against Gurupi, Mogi, São Paulo, Cruzeiro... Regardless of the opponent, our goal is to win," he stated.
Lucas, the top scorer in the quarterfinals against Coritiba with three goals, says the feat is not unprecedented in his career, but recognizes that the game will be unforgettable.
"If I'm not mistaken, I've scored three goals in a single game about four times, but of course never in a game as important as the quarterfinals of a São Paulo Cup, with everyone watching. It brought value to me and the group and I was very happy," said the player, who said that the night wasn't easy after so much success.
"It was difficult to sleep (laughs). I only managed to fall asleep at almost four in the morning. I was thinking about the game, the goals I scored, the plays and how important it was for me and the group," he added.
