The debut in the São Paulo Junior Football Cup, on Thursday night (3), could not have been better for Flamengo. With goals from Lucas Silva (twice), Patrick, Pepê, Wendel and Vitor Gabriel, the Rubro-Negro beat Ji-Paraná (RO) 6-0 and took the lead in Group 21 of the competition.

At 17 years old, young Wendel recently began his journey with the Flamengo youth team. His start in the category couldn't have been better: in his first major competition, the number 9 scored Flamengo's fourth goal on his debut night.

"It's very gratifying to score my first goal in the Copinha, as it's a very important competition for the U20 team. Now we need to rest so we can start the next game on the right foot, just like we did in this one. We want to play a great game and come away with the victory," said Wendel.

For Lucas Silva, the night was also very special. Scoring the third and fifth goals for Flamengo, the player was one of the standout performers for the team. "First of all, I thank God for the goals. There's nothing better than starting a competition as important as the São Paulo Cup with a win and a great result. Now it's time to focus on the next game, because there are no easy matches. It's one step at a time," Lucas added.

Flamengo's next challenge will be this Saturday (9), when Rubro-Negro faces Aimoré, at 19 pm, at Arena Barueri. The match is valid for the second round of the group stage of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup.
