The under-17 team plays with passion, but finishes second in the Copa do Brasil

There was no lack of determination. Flamengo's under-17 team took the field on Saturday night (August 31.08st) at Moacyrzão Stadium in Macaé for the second leg of the Copa do Brasil final and finished in second place. The boys fought until the end, but a 3-1 defeat handed the title to São Paulo, who won the first leg 2-0.
The first half was largely dominated by the Mais Querido. Led by Caio Rangel and Cafu, the Flamengo boys cornered São Paulo in their own half and applied intense pressure. They even managed to find the back of the net, but the goal was rightly disallowed. Despite their superiority, Flamengo was unable to break the 0-0 deadlock.
The first few minutes of the second half were practically a repeat of the first. And all the pressure paid off. In the 21st minute, defender Wellington took advantage of a cross from Caio Rangel and fired a powerful shot into the net. But just three minutes later, São Paulo tied the game. From then on, the red-and-black team's mission became nearly impossible, as they needed to win 4-1 to secure the trophy. Time ran out, and Tricolor scored two more goals, but the boys from Mais Querido kept fighting and ended their Copa do Brasil campaign with honor.
"We learned a lot in this competition. We've been through many battles together, since the match against Inter (first phase). We're sad, but we have to keep our heads in place and congratulate the whole group. We'll fight so that next year Flamengo can have a good campaign," said Flamengo striker Felipe.
