Flamengo finished first in Group 21 in the group stage. With two wins, against Ji-Paraná and Oeste, and a draw, against Aimoré, the Red-Blacks advanced with seven points. Finishing the group in first place, Mengo also had the advantage of continuing to host their matches in Barueri.

Without Hugo Souza, Patrick, Michael, Pepê, Lucas Silva and Wendel, all called up by Paulo César Carpegiani to make up the main team, goalkeeper Pedro Caracocci, defender Aderlan, left-back Pablo and striker Samuel reinforce the Garotos do Ninho.

In the first phase of the competition, Elosport Capão Bonito was placed in Group 22 along with Coritiba, Comercial, and Atlântico. With four points, one win, one draw, and one loss, the home team qualified in second place.
