Another duel between Flamengo and Palmeiras at the base
Teams have already faced each other in the Eurofarma Super Cup and the Under-23 Cup this year, in addition to the 2009 BH Cup.

Flamengo and Palmeiras have been putting on a strong showdown in the youth ranks recently. And Wednesday (December 08.12) is expected to be no different. Flamengo and Palmeiras face off at 19 p.m. in Caxias do Sul in the second round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. Cable TV channel SporTV will broadcast the match live.
Coming off a victory in its opening round, Flamengo is looking to secure another positive result to remain firmly in the fight for a spot in the quarterfinals. Leading Group A with three points and a goal difference of four (Alético-MG, Atlético-GO, Palmeiras, and Guarani round out the group), coach Paulo Henrique's team knows it won't be easy.
"It's going to be a very good game, very competitive, and at the end of the day we really want this win. We know how important it is to get the three points and we're going all out," said right-back Alex.
Flamengo is undefeated against Palmeiras in recent youth matches. They won the 2009 Belo Horizonte Cup 3-0, the Eurofarma Super Cup 2-1, and the Brazilian Under-23 Championship 4-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation. Excited defender Marllon urges the team to keep up the momentum and secure another victory.
"Starting with a win is the best thing possible, but we can't let it slip. Now we need to maintain the same pace to qualify," he explained.
The team should not have any changes in relation to the team that beat Guarani: Cesar, Alex, Marlon, Mateus and Jorbison; Lorran, João Vitor, Maycon and Luiz Antônio; Negueba and Thomas.
