Flamengo Boys Beat Santos in the Under-20 Brazilian Championship
By Communication - Official Club Website - inOn the night of last Tuesday (10.12), the Rubro-Negro under-20 team entered the field, against Santos, to play their second game of the Brazilian Championship in the category, at the Passo D'Areia Stadium, in Porto Alegre. Fla won 2-1, with goals from Fernando and Darlan, in a match valid for the third round of Group B.
Santos delivered the first significant attack. The Alvinegro Praiano team threatened with a shot that hit the post by goalkeeper João Paulo in the 17th minute. Fernandinho quickly responded, shooting right into the corner of the goalkeeper's net, but the goalkeeper palmed it away for a corner. Fernandinho's own shot led to Flamengo's first goal. After the cross, defender and captain Fernando scored with a header in the 20th minute of the first half. Eight minutes later, Santos equalized through Caio Henrique.
At half-time, Flamengo's captain and scorer, Fernando, analyzed the first half of the match.
"The game today is very balanced, we're drawing, but I think the synthetic grass also makes it a bit difficult, we're not used to it," he said.
Just 40 seconds into the second half, a good effort from Flamengo came in: Daniel struck a good shot with his left foot, but Passoni saved. In the 29th minute, Cafu unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box, but it wasn't enough to swell the Santos net. Then, in the 39th minute, a quick free kick fell to Darlan, who, legally, was left alone, one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and extended Flamengo's lead, sealing the 2-1 victory.
Mais Querido is now second in group B, with six points won, as Náutico beat Vitória and is leader, with 7. Fla's next game will be against Vitória, on the 12th, at 21 pm.
