Marcelo Buarque: "Direct confrontation"

Flamengo faces Madureira in the ninth round of the U-20 Rio Cup

Next Wednesday (14.05), at 15 pm, Flamengo's juniors face Madureira, in Conselheiro Galvão, in a match valid for the ninth round of the Taça Rio. After two defeats in the classics against Fluminense and Vasco, the team is once again looking for a winning path.

"We managed with our experience and hard work. And even with the loss to Vasco, they responded very well. In that game, our goalkeeper didn't make a single save, but that's football. They (Vasco) won, but we dominated completely. With everything the boys did in the first half of the season, when they finished first, and now in the second half, we remain in third place, in the qualifying zone. Classics are games without favorites; we sometimes drop points. But we still have seven games to play and achieve our goal of reaching the semifinals and finals," said Marcelo Buarque, the boys' coach.

The coach highlighted the difficulties of playing away from home against Tricolor Suburbano. "The game against Madureira in the first round was very difficult. This time it's on their field, which is smaller, which makes the game a bit more difficult. But we're going for the win, as always. They're fighting close to us in the standings; it's a direct confrontation for us," he concluded.
