Flamengo's juniors face Vasco in the eighth round of the U-20 Carioca Championship

A weekend with two Clássico dos Milhões (Millions Classics). This Saturday (February 15.02), at 16:30 pm, at the opponent's Itaguaí training center, Flamengo's under-20 team faces Vasco in the Rio de Janeiro State Championship. On Sunday (February 16.02), it will be the seniors' turn to take the field against Cruzmaltino at Maracanã Stadium at 16 pm. The juniors are looking for a victory that could keep them among the top four in the Taça Guanabara, qualifying for the semifinals. Flamengo is in fourth place with 11 points.
For coach Marcelo Buarque, like any classic, the game has a difference in terms of the boys' determination to win.
"I'm going into my second week training the boys, and the week leading up to this derby was the first I had entirely to work with them. We changed their style of play a little, moving to a tactic that I believe will help them perform better. Like any derby, such as against Botafogo or Fluminense, the derby against Vasco is a highly motivating game. The team is doing well, and I hope to see that on the field," he said.
Marcelo believes that it is essential, for their commitment on the field and in training, that the greatness of Flamengo, the club where he also worked in the 80s and 90s, be passed on to the boys.
"I've been with Flamengo for many years. I've played soccer, I've been on the other side, and I've also coached young players who are now successful professionals. I always try to show them the scale of Flamengo. If they understand the club's greatness, they're likely to become great professionals in the future. With their success, our work is valued, and we maintain the maxim that Flamengo makes great players at home," he concluded.
