Marcelo Lomba serves as inspiration for Caio

Goalkeeper with the fewest goals conceded in the U-17 State Championship, the red-and-black goalkeeper wants to follow in the footsteps of the professional goalkeeper.

Caio's idol is Bruno, but his current role model is Marcelo Lomba. A product of Flamengo's youth academy, he took over as the starting goalkeeper after more than ten years with the club, where he won numerous titles. This is the path the young goalkeeper for the U-17 team, who won the Rio de Janeiro championship undefeated last weekend, wants to follow.

"It's definitely an added motivation to know that the goalkeepers who were raised here at the club are in high regard in the first team. Of course, Marcelo Lomba, for example, is a great role model for me and for everyone who's just starting out. He started here, in the youth academy, and today he's Flamengo's starting goalkeeper," he said.

Caio couldn't find the words to describe the emotion of this first title wearing the Sacred Mantle and simply said that he hopes this feeling will be repeated many times in his career.

"The first title with Flamengo is beyond words. I hope it's the first of many," said the goalkeeper, who spoke about his performance in the final, when, in the first half, he ensured that Flamengo didn't concede any goals, despite some pressure from Botafogo.

"The defenses were calm. The team fought hard, and it wasn't just because of me that we won this title today. Everyone worked hard, struggled a lot, and everyone knows what we went through to get here today. There's nothing better than crowning it with the title," he concluded.
