Qualification and unbeaten record secured. Maintaining their 100% record in the São Paulo Junior Football Cup, Flamengo's under-20 team defeated Red Bull Brasil 1-0 on Thursday night (January 14.01) and secured a spot in the fourth round of the competition. 

The Red-Blacks relied on star power from Matheus Sávio, who came off the bench in the second half and needed only four minutes to score the match's only goal. Now, the Mais Querido faces Bahia, who defeated Araxá-MG 4-1.

"We performed to our standard on the field, and I was happy to score. Now it's time to rest a lot, and we have to be fully focused, because if we lose, we're out in the next round. The field was heavy, but we managed to overcome it. I started on the bench, and when I came on, I only thought about helping my team. But the most important thing is the victory and qualification," said Matheus Sávio.

In the first half, Paquetá and Vizeu tried to find space in attack and created a few chances to open the scoring, but were either stopped by the opposing defense or missed their target. In the second half, RB Brasil pushed forward and made goalkeeper Thiago work, but the opposing team was stopped by the post and by the goalkeeper's good saves. Flamengo responded with a good play down the left, along the byline, by Lucas Paquetá, but the number 11's attempt went wide.

In an attempt to change the game's trajectory, Flamengo coach Zé Ricardo made his first substitution, taking off Trindade and bringing on Matheus Sávio. The youngster soon showed his talent, opening the scoring for the "Mais Querido" in the 19th minute of the second half, following a beautiful play by Cafú, who provided a three-finger assist. The opponent tried to equalize, but Flamengo managed the result well until the final whistle.
