The game
Flamengo started the match with a strong offensive presence, and just three minutes in, they created their first opportunity. After a cross into the box, Douglas Telles rose with style to head the ball, but it flew just wide of the Tricolor goalkeeper's post. In the 19th minute, Mengão opened the scoring! Pablo drove through the middle, played a one-two with Joshua, received the ball back, and slotted it home: 1-0.
Defensively, the red-and-black team played a very solid game, neutralizing Fluminense's attacking moves. In the 30th minute, the Tricolor team was awarded a penalty. Keven Samuel converted the penalty, tying the match at 1-1.
Rubro-Negro responded immediately with a stunning goal! Douglas Telles received the ball at the edge of the box and hit a beautiful shot into the top corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance, putting Mengão back in front: 2-1. The first half was quite intense and ended with the Rubro-Negro advantage.
Early in the second half, Fluminense had a player sent off. Riquelme, already on a yellow card, made a harsh tackle on the red-and-black player and received a red card. With an extra man, the game became more open, and both teams sought to attack.
In the 24th minute, Joshua made a great play through the middle, entered the box, and shot, but the ball went over the goal. In the final minutes, Mengão extended their lead and sealed the victory.
