In the seventh round of the Guanabara U-20 Cup, Flamengo beat Resende 4-1 on Saturday afternoon (26), in Gávea. The goals for Mais Querido were scored by Mateus Dias, Werton (2) and Victor Hugo. It is worth remembering that Mengão is playing with the U-18 team in the tournament, as the U-20 team is competing in the Brazilian Championship in the category.

O JOGO

The first half began with a fierce battle in midfield, with both teams battling for possession. Resende tried to reach the red-and-black penalty area with lofted balls, without much threat to goalkeeper Bruno. In the 9th minute, Flamengo arrived with Victor Hugo, who risked a shot from outside the box and nearly opened the scoring. In the 15th minute, Mengão scored their first goal! After Pedro's cross from the right side of the penalty area, Mateus Dias rose to the third floor and headed the ball into the back of the net: 1-0.

Then, in the 19th minute, Resende extended their lead! Ronald found Pedro in the box, who passed a low pass to Werton, who was free, who tapped it into the empty net: 2-0. And Mengão wanted more! In the 24th minute, Resende's goalkeeper misplayed his foot, and Victor Hugo pushed the ball into the back of the net: 3-0. In the 30th minute, Resende had a good opportunity, but Bruno made a great save and sent it out for a corner. In the 35th minute, Resende pulled one back with an own goal from defender Leo Xavier: 3-1.

Early in the second half, Mengão scored their fourth with a stunning goal from Werton. The center forward received the ball on the left edge of the penalty area, cut inside, and unleashed a beautiful shot from outside the box that went into the top corner: 4-1. In the 28th minute, Resende missed a great opportunity with Igor, who was one-on-one with goalkeeper Bruno and shot against the post. Flamengo, playing well throughout the match, managed the result in the final ten minutes and left the field with another important victory.
