The Flamengo youth soccer team continues to lift trophies in 2022! The 40th of the year, a historic record for the Garotos do Ninho, came on the hot morning of this Friday (9), and like so many others achieved throughout the season, it came undefeated. In the final of the first edition of the Flamengo Adidas Cup, the largest international youth soccer tournament ever held in Brazil, the Mais Querido won 2-1 (Lorran [2], Stephano Carrillo) over Santos Laguna (MEX) on field 3 of CT George Helal. It was the fifth title in the U-16 category this season.

The game

The Most Beloved dominated the first half and created many opportunities. In the seventh minute, Felipe Lima received the ball in the box and shot from outside the net. In the 15th minute, Felipe Lima again had his shot blocked inside the six-yard box. In the 24th minute, Mengão opened the scoring. Felipe Teresa delivered a beautiful pass to Lorran, who skillfully slotted the ball past the Mexican goalkeeper. In the last play of the first half, in the 36th minute, Lorran beat the marker with speed and played with great skill to extend the lead.

Santos Laguna came out swinging in the second half, pulling one back in the 14th minute with a Stephano Carrillo goal. But Flamengo controlled the game and celebrated their first-ever Flamengo Adidas Cup title.
