The third day of the Flamengo Academy was marked by new features. In addition to the lectures, the registered students were able to experience in practice the work of the DSAR (Health and High Performance Department of Youth Football), attend the first round table of the course and watch in situ the 3x0 victory of Flamengo over Nova Iguaçu, for the Copa Rio Sub-16, played on field 5 of Ninho do Urubu. The activities of the workshop “Red-Black DNA — an Immersion in the Flamengo Methodology” were held this Wednesday (18), at Ninho do Urubu.

The day began outside the auditorium, the venue for lectures and roundtables at the Flamengo Academy. Students learned about the work of Flamengo professionals in the DSAR departments. Physiotherapists applied compression boots, used in athlete recovery, and there was also a thermography test in physiology and a salivary osmolarity test performed by the nutritionist, which provide important indicators for players, such as hydration levels and injury risks, among others. The procedures used by psychology in the preparation of youth players were also detailed.

Earlier in the morning, workshop participants closely observed the work of the coaching staff and players on the sidelines, where the Flamengo youth team (under-16) scored three goals against Nova Iguaçu without conceding any. The goals for the team coached by Diogo Calhau were scored by Matheus Teixeira, José Eduardo, and an own goal.

After lunch, Téo Benjamin, the data manager for Flamengo's professional football team, was the speaker responsible for developing the theme "Data Analysis in Service of Football". Author of the book "Outro Patamar" (Another Level), a work that analyzes Flamengo's performance in the magical year of 2019, Benjamin showed how an in-depth analysis of the information obtained from each player can help all departments of a club improve their performance in various aspects, such as: tactics, technique, mental and physical preparation, among others.

The first roundtable discussion at the Flamengo Academy featured a product of the club's youth system and brought the third day's program to a close in style. Former defender Fernando, a champion of the Carioca Championship (2000 and 2001), the Champions Cup (2001), and the Brazilian Cup (2006) while wearing the Flamengo jersey, addressed the topic "Developing Players or Building People?", moderated by Leonam Kasali, Flamengo's youth football market manager, and with the participation of two other club professionals: André Rocha, women's football manager, and Arthur Figueiredo, youth market coordinator.
