In the first round of the Campeonato Carioca Sub-20, Flamengo beat Botafogo 1-0 on Saturday morning (15), in Gávea. The Rubro-Negro's goal was scored by Werton, after a rehearsed play, sealing the victory in the competition's debut.

The game
Flamengo started the first half attacking the black and white team, exchanging passes in the attacking midfield. In the tenth minute, Peralta took a shot from outside the box, but the goalkeeper made a save. In the 17th minute, Mengão created another dangerous play. Ryan Luka received the ball inside the box and shot across goal, but the black and white goalkeeper made a good save.

The Mais Querido had more control of the game and passed the ball from foot to foot, trying to create space in the black and white defense. In the 33rd minute, Ítalo arrived on the left and crossed for Gabriel Barros, who headed dangerously over the goal. In the 40th minute, Luan arrived well on the byline and crossed into the middle of the box. Gabriel Barros caught it first time, and the ball went just wide of the post. The first half ended 0-0.

Flamengo returned for the second half with the same attitude, pressing Botafogo in their own half. The black-and-white team barely made it past midfield, while Flamengo continued searching for their first goal. In the 29th minute, after a free kick from the left, Otávio rose and headed the ball just wide of the post. Three minutes later, Botafogo went on the counterattack, forcing Matheus Cunha into a great save.

At 38', Mengão opened the scoring! In a rehearsed play, Thiaguinho took a short corner, Yuri deflected it with his heel to Werton chegar hitting the goalkeeper's left corner: 1-0. In the final minutes, Fla managed the result and left the field with the victory in the debut of the Carioca Sub-20.
