In Gávea, Flamengo U-17 beats Nova Iguaçu 2-1
Mais Querido advanced to the quarterfinals of Carioca with the second best campaign

In the last round of the Guanabara Under-17 Cup, Flamengo beat Nova Iguaçu 2-1 on Saturday afternoon (23), in Gávea. Mengão's goals were scored by Victor Hugo and Jonathan. With the result, the Mais Querido finished second in the competition and advanced to the quarterfinals of Carioca.
The game
The match started evenly, with both teams vying for possession. In the 14th minute, the red-and-black team made a good move. Petterson took a free kick into the box, and Darlan headed dangerously over the goal. Petterson then made a good individual run down the left and attempted a cross. The ball hit the left post.
The Ninho Boys tried to play the ball out, but Nova Iguaçu pressed hard and made it difficult for the red-and-blacks to attack. In the 28th minute, Petterson was brought down in the box, and the referee awarded a penalty. Victor Hugo fired a powerful shot high into the air and scored Mengão's first goal: 1-0. The Red-and-Blacks went into halftime with the lead.
Early in the second half, Fabrício Yan arrived well on the left side of the box and fired a powerful shot. The goalkeeper managed to put it out for a corner. In the 22nd minute, Mengão extended their lead! Petterson made a great play on the left, took the ball to the byline, and sent in a low cross. Jonathan simply had to tap it into the back of the net: 2-0.
In the final minutes, Nova Iguaçu pulled one back with Kayque Renan: 2-1. With the result, the Garotos do Ninho finished the Taça Guanabara in second place and will face Nova Iguaçu again in the quarterfinals of the Carioca.
