The game
Rubro-Negro started the first half looking to attack, and just three minutes in, they threatened Nova Iguaçu's goal. Wesley made a beautiful run down the right, took the ball to the byline, and rolled it back. Yuri arrived with a first-time shot, and the ball deflected off the defense before going out for a corner.
In the 13th minute, Wesley again delivered an excellent cross into the box, and Werton, with a sliding tackle, closed it in at the far post, but the ball went out of bounds. The Ninho Boys kept possession longer, but struggled to break down Nova Iguaçu's tight defense.
In the 40th minute, Mengão opened the scoring! In a fast play down the right, Gabriel Barros took the ball to the baseline and crossed low into the six-yard box for Ryan Luka to finish into the back of the net: 1-0. The Mais Querido went into halftime with the lead.
Just four minutes into the second half, Mengão extended their lead! Peralta attempted a shot from inside the box, but the goalkeeper rebounded it to Weverton, who only had to tap it into the net: 2-0. In the 11th minute, the red-and-black team created another great opportunity. Ítalo arrived well on the left side of the box and crossed. Nova Iguaçu's defense partially cleared the ball, and on the rebound, Ryan Luka nearly scored his second of the match.
In the 38th minute, Flamengo scored the third! After a cross into the box, Weverton headed the ball back, and it fell to Lázaro, who fired a powerful shot past the goalkeeper: 3-0. Superior throughout the 90 minutes, Flamengo left the field with an important victory.
