In the 11th round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship, Flamengo defeated Vasco 2-1 on Friday afternoon (13), in Gávea. The goals of the Mais Querido were scored by Pedro Arthur, from a penalty, and Andre, both in the final stage. It is worth noting that the Garotos do Ninho had a player sent off at the beginning of the second half and, even with one less, managed to win. With the result, Mengão rose to fourth place in the championship, with 20 points won.

The game
The match began with both teams closely studying each other and heavily marking in midfield. In the 23rd minute, Ítalo delivered a good cross into the box, and Andre headed over the bar. As the first half progressed, the red-and-black team pushed up their defense and began playing high lines to try to win the ball back quickly and surprise Vasco.

In the 40th minute, Flamengo created another good chance. Wesley crossed into the box and Andre attempted a bicycle kick, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the last minute, after the referee overruled the play, Vasco opened the scoring with Marcos Dias and went into halftime ahead: 1-0.

At the start of the second half, Flamengo was down ten men. Ítalo fouled just outside the box, received a second yellow card, and was sent off. In the 22nd minute, Mengão leveled the score. JP Galvão brought down Wesley inside the box, and the referee awarded a penalty. Pedro Arthur struck powerfully into the middle of the goal to level the derby: 1-1.  

A few minutes later, the Boys of the Nest showed that Mengão is the boss at Gávea, and turned the game around! Andre received the ball at the edge of the box, left his marker on the ground, and beat the goalkeeper to score the second for Mais Querido: 2-1. Down ten men since the start of the second half, Flamengo showed their resilience and left the field with the victory.

Next appointment
Rubro-Negro returns to the field on August 23rd to face Sport, at 15 pm, at Ilha do Retiro, for the 12th round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship.
