In the eighth round of the Guanabara U-20 Cup, Mengão came from behind to beat Resende 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon (07), in Gávea. The goals for Mais Querido were scored by Diego, with a header, and Samuel, at the end of the second half. With the result, the Garotos do Ninho achieved their sixth consecutive victory and remained in the isolated lead of the competition with 21 points.

The game
The match began with the Garotos do Ninho taking the initiative and looking to attack. Meanwhile, Resende adopted a more defensive stance, waiting for Flamengo in their own half. In the 16th minute, Flamengo created a threat for the first time. Gabriel Barros delivered a beautiful pass to Pedrinho, who hit a powerful cross. The goalkeeper stretched out and sent the ball out for a corner.

Flamengo was attacking the field well on the wings and creating opportunities to open the scoring. Resende, for their part, continued to defend well, hindering Flamengo's attacks through the middle. In the 38th minute, Pedrinho received the ball on the left edge of the box, cut inside, and took a shot. The ball hit the post before going out.

Resende then launched a quick counterattack and was awarded a penalty. Bismarck took the penalty and opened the scoring for the visitors: 1-0. Despite the greater play, the red-and-black team went into halftime trailing.

At the start of the second half, just two minutes in, Mengão leveled the score. Gabriel Barros took a free kick into the box, and defender Diego rose higher than everyone else and headed the ball into the back of the net: 1-1.

After Pedro Arthur's introduction at halftime, Resende became even more attacking, preventing Resende from leaving their own half. Seeking a comeback, the red-and-black team moved the ball from foot to foot, trying to create space in the opposing defense.

Overwhelmed by Flamengo's passing, Resende struggled to break past midfield and remained entirely in their own half. In the final minutes, with their continued persistence, Resende turned the game around in the 43rd minute! After receiving the ball on the left side of the box, Filipe Chrysman passed it perfectly to Samuel, who simply had to put his foot in and tap it into the goal, sealing a 2-1 victory for the Flamengo team at Gávea.
