In the third round of the Rio Cup, the Guanabara Cup champions face Fluminense at 15 pm, at José Bastos Padilha Stadium, Gávea. Coming from two draws, Flamengo seeks victory to continue in the fight for the title of the second phase of the Carioca Championship.

After winning the U-20 Guanabara Cup, the Garotos do Ninho played two matches in the second phase of the Carioca Championship. Making their debut in the Rio Cup, Flamengo drew 0-0 against Goytacaz. They then tied again 1-1, this time against América. Both matches were played away from home.

"We expect to play well. Our team has played well in the last two games, so we were able to give the starting lineup a week of training and recovery. We're focused and motivated for this week's derby. Fluminense is a good team and is coming off two good results. It has everything it needs to be a great game," said Maurício de Souza, coach of the U-20 team.

Fluminense heads into the derby with two wins in the first rounds of the Rio Cup. In their debut, they beat Vasco 1-0, repeating the result against Nova Iguaçu in the following match. In the Guanabara Cup, they recorded four wins, two draws, and one loss, but the Tricolor failed to qualify for the semifinals.
