U-20 defeats Mesquita and regains leadership of group B of the OPG Tournament

By - in
Flamengo's under-20 team regained first place in Group B of the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament (OPG) in style. Last Saturday (28.09), at the Nielsen Louzada Stadium, the red-blacks beat Mesquita 5-1, with goals from Eduardo (3), Renato Maceió and Diego Fabián. Thus, the team ended the first round of the qualifying phase undefeated and with eight points.

"The pitch was very bad and hard, but since Mesquita is used to training there, we conceded the first goal. Less than five minutes later, we equalized and then took off. With one red card for each side (Robert for Flamengo), we had more space to work the ball better and get the lead. It wasn't as easy as the score suggests," explained Caio Quiroga, Mais Querido's captain in the match.

The next match in the OPG Tournament will be next Saturday (05.10/13), when Flamengo will face Madureira, at 02.10 pm, at Conselheiro Galvão Stadium. Before that, however, the team will face Remo this Wednesday (19/30), at XNUMX:XNUMX pm. The two teams will face each other in the first leg of the round of XNUMX of the Copa do Brasil, in Belém do Pará.

"The team is very relaxed about the match against Remo, as we've been training for a long time with this match in mind. Our expectations are the best possible. We're expecting a full house, but that won't hurt us, and we even think it's better when something like this happens. Last year, we decided the OPG Tournament at Engenhão, Botafogo's stadium, and we came out on top," said Caio.
