In the Luso-Brazilian tournament, the U-20s draw 2-2 with Portuguesa in the Guanabara Cup

By Victor Cachoeira - inOn the morning of this Wednesday (16), the Under-20 team of Mais Querido went to the Luso-Brasileiro stadium, on Ilha do Governador, to face Portuguesa in the fourth round of the Taça Guanabara. In a tight game, where Flamengo played with one less player since the 30th minute of the first half, the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Number 7 Yuri de Oliveira scored both goals for GarotosDoNinho.
The game
The match started evenly, with both teams studying each other. In the seventh minute, Portuguesa threatened goalkeeper Pedro Caracoci with a cross into the box. In the 12th minute, the score was opened. With a perfect free kick from Yuri de Oliveira, Mengão scored for the first time and began to impose itself even more.
With good plays from Richard Rios and André, the team continued to threaten. In the 26th minute, Ítalo delivered a cross into the box, and André shot wide. In the 30th minute, a move that changed the course of the match. In a counterattack by the opposing team, goalkeeper Pedro Caracoci ended up handling the ball outside the box and was sent off. Down ten men, the Rubro-Negro had to reinvent themselves. At this point, goalkeeper Victor Hugo came on for striker André. At the end of the first half, the score was 1-0 to the Garotos do Ninho.
The second half started with a high intensity. In the 12th minute, Portuguesa mounted a counterattack and scored, tying the score. In the 16th minute, coach Maurício Souza called on João Gabriel and Pablo, who replaced Guilherme Bala and Ítalo. In the 30th minute, another goal for Flamengo! In a well-rehearsed play, João Gabriel passed to Yuri de Oliveira, and the number 7 made no mistake. He scored his second of the match and put Flamengo back in front: 2-1.
Playing at home, Portuguesa did not let themselves be shaken and in the 36th minute they equalized once again. With the entries of Weverton, Danilo and Otávio, Flamengo still tried to fight until the end for a positive result, but the referee ended the match and the final result was 2-2.
The Garotos Do Ninho return to the field on Saturday, in Gávea, where they face Volta Redonda, at 15 pm, in the fifth round of the Guanabara Cup.
