On Tuesday afternoon (1), Flamengo hosted Corinthians for the second leg of the quarterfinals of the U-20 Brazil Cup and ended up saying goodbye to the competition. Playing at Gávea and with a great crowd present, Rubro-Negro played a tough game, but ended up losing 2-1 in normal time, a result that took the decision of the spot to the penalty shootout. In the shootout, Fla lost 3-2.

Flamengo took to the field with the following lineup: Gabriel Batista; Wesley, Aderlan, Matheus Dantas (Gabriel Magalhães) and Pablo; Gabriel Kazu (Matheus Alves), Klebinho (Vitor Ricardo) and Pepê (Yuri); Luiz Henrique, Bill (Wendel) and Vitor Gabriel.

Just five minutes in, Klebinho sped down the right and crossed into the box, looking for Vitor Gabriel, but the number 5 couldn't get there in time to finish. The pressure continued in the following plays. Pressuring the opponent's ball out and exchanging good passes in the attacking half, Flamengo managed to get close to Corinthians' goal, but a well-positioned defense prevented the Rubro-Negro from opening the scoring.

On defense, Gabriel Batista and the back four of Matheus Dantas and Aderlan did a good job, squeezing out the few chances Corinthians created. The opponent's best opportunity came in the 17th minute, when Corinthians stole the ball in midfield, sprinted forward, and attempted a shot, but Dantas made the crucial save.

In the 20th minute, the Ninho Boys had another great moment. After challenging for the ball on the right, Vitor Gabriel won the challenge and passed to Gabriel Kazu, who struggled to get the shot away, only to be blocked by the opposing goalkeeper. Early in the second half, Bill made a good run down the left flank and took a long-range shot, but his shot went wide. Corinthians then responded with a very good chance, attempting three shots in the same move, but Flamengo managed to clear the danger. Flamengo pressed on and was rewarded for their persistence. In the 8th minute, the Red-Blacks made a great play down the left flank, and Pablo received the ball on a counterattack from Bill. In a beautiful individual move, the number 6 advanced, beat the defender and the goalkeeper, and fired in a beautiful goal that brought a thrill to Gávea.

However, in the 16th minute, Corinthians had another chance to score and made no mistake. Midfielder Renan found number 9 Nathan alone, who took Batista out of the play and tied the score at 1-1 in Rio de Janeiro. From then on, the match became increasingly intense. With good passing and attempts in the attacking half, Flamengo came close to scoring on several occasions. The best of these came in the 33rd minute, when Vitor Gabriel burst into the box, attempted a shot, and was blocked. Later, Vitor Ricardo arrived in excellent position, but the opposing defense also managed to clear.

In the 43rd minute, Corinthians scored their second goal through Vitinho. After complaining to the referee about a foul, Luiz Henrique was sent off after receiving a second yellow card, and Flamengo played the final minutes with ten men. With the score at 2-1, the match went to penalties.

In the penalty shootout, Gabriel Batista saved Carlos Augusto's shot, and Fabrício Oya sent it wide. Wendel and Vitor Ricardo scored for Flamengo, but Batista, Yuri, and Wesley missed. The final score was 3-2 for Corinthians.

Last Saturday, Fla qualified for the grand final of the Campeonato Carioca Sub-20 and will face Vasco on May 12th.
