The opening of the second round of the Flamengo Adidas Cup reserved a more complicated clash for Rubro-Negro on field 4 of CT George Helal, in Vargem Grande. Flamengo and Santos Laguna, from Mexico, tied at one goal, after a dispute marked by great intensity, even in the strong heat of the morning of this Monday (5). Menegatti opened the scoring for Fla and Alex Valencia equalized.

Few scoring chances were created in the first half. Flamengo had a stronger presence on the right flank, with good triangles between Lorran, Felipe Teresa, and Daniel Sales. The best opportunity came precisely in this area, after a foul on right-back Daniel Sales. Defender Victor Thiago nearly scored from the spot in the 16th minute.

The Mexican team, however, threatened on a few occasions. Victor Thiago saved one of them, clearing it with his face on the line in the 11th minute. Late in the first half, goalkeeper Caio Barone saved a clear goal from the Santos Laguna striker. Before halftime, Flamengo pressed, but the score remained 0-0.

While the right wing was more active in the first half, Menegatti opened the scoring for Flamengo in the first attacking move, following a pass from left-back Germano just a minute into the match. Flamengo, however, couldn't hold onto their lead for long and eventually conceded the equalizer in the 13th minute, thanks to Alex Valencia, who capitalized on a loose ball inside the box.

The game continued without any major scoring chances. Lorran made a strong individual appearance, leaving four players behind, but ended up being stopped by goalkeeper Sergio Barajas. The number 10 then made another save with a volley from the Mexican goalkeeper. The game continued with fiercely contested moves, but the score remained unchanged.

Flamengo's players had the opportunity to play under the watchful eye of Felipe Leal, coach of the Brazilian U-17 team. Also in attendance were Fabinho Soldado and Juan, Flamengo's manager and technical manager, respectively, as well as Fábio Matias, former coach of the Flamengo U-20 team, and former player Elano, who played for Flamengo.

Now, Rubro-Negro will face Colo Colo, from Chile, this Tuesday (6), at CT George Helal. The Chilean team lost 3-1 to Arsenal, in the other match in the group. A victory qualifies Fla for the semifinals of the Flamengo Adidas Cup.
