Flamengo's Silvers: How citizenship is applied in the red-black base

Having worked at the club for 29 years, professional Ana Correa explains how the Social Service works

By - in
Social services are responsible for planning and implementing public policies and social programs aimed at collective well-being and individual integration into society. It is through these foundations that social worker Ana Hilda Correa has worked for Flamengo's football team for 29 years. For Flamengo's youth teams, social services are the gateway for athletes who will reside in the club's accommodation at the George Helal Training Center.

Upon reaching the youth ranks to enter the evaluation process or after being approved to join the group, prospective resident athletes must report to social services to submit documentation. The social worker collects personal documents, authorization from guardians for the athlete to reside at the club, school documentation, and entry and exit authorization. Social service work is carried out in an integrated manner with pedagogical and administrative work.

In addition to managing social documents, Ana conducts social anamnesis, a general analysis of the athlete's background: family orientation, possible experiences in other housing, history with sports and soccer, and motivation for joining Flamengo. She also assists with the military enlistment process for all Flamengo youth athletes, as most are under 18.

With the help of interns Jessica Paiva and Felipe Lopes, Ana also schedules medical and dental appointments and clinical exams, as well as overseeing the vaccination of all the resident boys.

"Our role is to guide athletes regarding their rights and responsibilities as citizens. Our goal is to ensure that the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) is fully implemented within the Training Center," explains the social worker.

In the coming weeks we will present the departments:

- Doctor;
- Technical Committees;
- Intelligence and Market Center.
