Clube de Regatas do Flamengo held, this Wednesday (5), the 4th edition of "Tô Nesse Time", a meeting that brings together teachers from the municipal and state education networks, where the athletes of the Flamengo youth categories study, with professionals from the youth football department. The event, created in 2022, aims to bring the club closer to schools and strengthen the network that trains young Flamengo athletes, a joint work between sport, education and family in favor of human development.
“Flamengo is more than just football,” highlighted the director of youth football, Alfredo Almeida, at the opening of the meeting. According to him, the club is committed to offering support, knowledge, and opportunities to around 350 boys, regardless of whether or not they become professional players. “Our role is to contribute to the holistic development of each one, both on and off the field.”
Patrícia Negreiros, the human development coordinator for the Flamengo youth academy, emphasized that "Tô Nesse Time" (I'm in This Team) was born from the need to strengthen ties with schools, creating a solid and ongoing partnership.
“This is an important process that involves teachers, students, and families. Sport has the same weight as education, and when we walk together, we can break down stigmas about professional soccer players and better deal with the pressures surrounding the team's colors and the family environment. Today, we are a network: club, family, and school, all on the same team, working towards the development of the citizen athlete,” he stated.
This year's edition featured 57 participants, representing 11 schools from the 7th Regional Education Coordination (CRE), which have student-athletes from Flamengo. Throughout the program, the Human Development Department presented the sector's actions and all the projects carried out throughout the year.
The meeting also featured two keynote lectures. The first, given by Daíse Porto, a specialist in project management and innovation, addressed the theme "Always connected, always available... until when?". The guest speaker discussed the impact of hyper-connectivity and digital anxiety among young people, reflecting on the challenges of balancing online presence, self-care, and well-being.
Next, Beta Mellin, journalist, psychopedagogue, and educator, spoke about "Artificial Intelligence: the good use of technology in education." The lecture addressed the transformations brought about by new technologies and the importance of developing creativity, critical thinking, and digital literacy. Beta emphasized that it is essential to "use technology consciously, understanding how and why to use it," especially in the education of young people who are growing up in increasingly digital environments.
In addition to the lectures, the educators participated in raffles for Flamengo jerseys and toured the youth training center, getting a close look at the environment where the athletes live and develop.
Concluding the meeting, the team reinforced the central message that guides all the actions of the youth academy: to educate, welcome, and inspire both on and off the field. "Tô Nesse Time" continues to solidify Flamengo's commitment to using the transformative power of football to develop players and, especially, conscious citizens prepared for the future.
