With two victories over Corinthians, Flamengo secures its place among the competition's top four.

Flamengo's under-17 team beat Corinthians 2-0 on Saturday afternoon (17.08), at the Décio Vitta Municipal Stadium, in Americana, São Paulo, and secured a place among the semi-finalists of the Copa do Brasil. On the evening of next Tuesday (20.08), in Campinas, Mais Querido will begin the dispute with Ponte Preta for a place in the final of the competition.
Flamengo outplayed Corinthians throughout the match, but the goals only came in the final minutes of the second half. First, number 10 Caio Rangel, who scored the only goal of the first leg, dribbled past a defender and fired a shot past the goalkeeper. In celebration, the team's top scorer with four goals ran into the crowd, shouting, "Flamengo, I love you! Mengão!"
The second goal came from striker Cafu. He received the ball inside the box, beat a defender, and fired a precise cross-shot into the goalkeeper's left corner. "I came on and scored my second goal of the competition. Flamengo has a strong squad. The coach (Celso Martins) has plenty of options on the bench," said the scorer of the match's final goal.
This is the first edition of the U-17 Brazil Cup, and the Rubro-Negro has the best defense in the competition. They've conceded only three goals in six matches. The return match against Ponte Preta, to be played in Rio de Janeiro, has yet to be scheduled.
