The Flamengo boys are enjoying a great run in the state junior championship. After their thrashing of Vasco last Saturday (February 15.02), the Rubro-Negro defeated Madureira 3-0 at Nivaldo Pereira Stadium on Wednesday (February 19.02). The victory was crucial to maintaining their position at the top of the Taça Guanabara table, as the match was a head-to-head. With the result, the Mais Querido surpassed the Tricolor Suburbano in the standings and moved into third place with 17 points, just five behind leaders Nova Iguaçu, after nine rounds played.

Scoring two goals in the rout of Cruzmaltino, Douglas Baggio found the net again, scoring a stunning backheel goal against Madureira. Striker Thiago Santos completed the scoring, finding the target twice.

"It's always good to score two goals, especially since I haven't been scoring in recent games. I identify with Douglas (Baggio), we've been playing together since the youth team, so we have a good connection. We're working hard, we lost some important points, but we're recovering to chase first place in the table," said the striker.

The under-20 team returns to the field for the Campeonato Carioca next Saturday (22.02), for the tenth round, to face Resende, at Estádio do Trabalhador.
