Win, Win, Win. This verb is in the Flamengo Regatas Club anthem and is part of the DNA of all our youth soccer players, who, from the U-7s onwards, are accustomed to developing through winning, both as athletes and as citizens.

The U-11 and U-12 athletes are no exception. On July 9th, both age groups won the CFZ Club Tournament, a preparatory competition for the Os Donos da Bola Cup, the season's main competition and the state championship for these age groups. 

Despite a long period of over a year and a half without officially playing on the field, due to the pandemic, the Garotos do Ninho had consistent and convincing performances in both categories, achieving the victories in a deserved way.

"I believe that constantly playing and competing is crucial for our athletes' development. Due to the pandemic, we lost over a year of training, and that's a significant factor. Even so, we had a very solid competition. The boys hadn't competed on the field for over a year and a half. We returned to training at the beginning of this year, but very gradually, and they were very eager to play. It was their first competition on an official field; for U-10s and under, the field sizes are reduced. All of this significantly increases their anxiety," said coach Marcus Sant'Anna, who added:

"This generation is very strong. The club has been building great generations for the future, and this is one of the ones with a lot of projection within Flamengo. Even though they are still quite young athletes with a long way to go, today I see great athletes for their age in various positions. This is very important for a development club like Flamengo," concluded Marcus Sant'Anna.

"As part of a development process, athletes in this age group need to play a lot. Due to the pandemic, since our activities resumed, we've trained a lot and played little. Competing, and all the processes involved (training sessions, workload management, etc.), is essential. This competition was crucial for putting all these processes into practice and allowing us to once again observe our athletes on the field. Many of them had never played in an official competition. And the result was very positive in every aspect. Furthermore, it served as excellent preparation for our target competition of the season, the Os Donos da Bola Cup. We are very happy with this achievement," explained coach Beto Araújo.
