With consistent campaigns, Garotos do Ninho are fighting this Saturday for a place in the two finals of the important tournament.

Flamengo's U-13 and U-14 teams have maintained their excellent youth football record in the 2019 season. Playing in the Voltaço Cup, the main national competition for these categories, the Garotos do Ninho played consistently and deservedly secured a spot in both semifinals this Friday afternoon (21). The U-13 team, led by coach Leonam Kasali, beat the dangerous Madureira 2-1 (Arthur Manoel and Bill) in a very difficult match, and will face Athético PR in the semifinal, this Saturday (22) at 10 am. Immediately afterwards, the U-14 team, led by coach Leonardo Cherede, overcame the fact of playing with one player less since the 15th minute of the second half and defeated Grêmio 1-0 (Lucas Matheus). In the semifinal, the opponent will be Internacional, at 11:30 am. Both matches take place at Estádio do Trabalhador, in Resende.

Under-13s win group and reach semifinals undefeated

In their debut, the Mais Querido (Most Beloved) cruised through the field and, despite putting up little effort, thrashed Manthiqueira (SP) 5-0. David, Arthur Manoel, Gustavo, Samuel, and Felipe scored the goals. In the second round, a very difficult match saw them draw 1-1 against Athlético PR, with a truly remarkable goal from Bill (see the video below).

In the third and final round of Group A, the Ninho Boys defeated Volta Redonda 2-0, with goals from Gustavinho and Baiano, a result that gave the Red-Blacks first place in the group. In the quarterfinals, they again defeated Madureira, 2-1 (Arthur Manoel and Bill), and secured a spot in the semifinals.

U-14 beats Grêmio with one less player and is also in the semifinals

The U-14 team's journey has been anything but easy. In their debut, they were defeated 4-1 by Manthiqueira (SP), with goals from Matheus Gonçalves (2), Lucas Matheus, and Flavio. In the second round, they won 1-0 against Athlético PR, with a goal from Matheus Gonçalves, securing early qualification. In the group final, the team lost 1-0 to Internacional, qualifying in second place. In the extremely difficult quarterfinal match against Grêmio, Flamengo had Raphael Paquetá sent off in the 15th minute of the second half. That's when the "Garotos do Ninho" (The Boys of the Nest) came into their own, scoring through Lucas Matheus in the 20th minute, and with great determination and teamwork, they held on to secure a spot in the semifinals.

Playing with one less player, the U-14s beat Grêmio and also secured a place in the semi-finals of the biggest national competition in the category.
