Despite having had a great campaign, finishing the Voltaço Cup undefeated, Flamengo's U-13 team, led by coach Leonam Kasali, was defeated by Fluminense 6-5 on penalties in the final of the competition, after a 1-1 draw (Edmilson) in regular time, and was runner-up in the tournament, in a final played at Estádio do Trabalhador, in Resende.

The derby started with a lively atmosphere, but with a lot of study on both sides. The first shot on goal came in the sixth minute, from a free kick by Edmilson, just to the right of goalkeeper Samuel's goal. In the tricolor's first attack, in the eighth minute, Gustavo headed in and opened the scoring. The game was tight and chances were few, but Flamengo was trying to build on it. In the 20th minute, Bill took a first-time shot, and Samuel made a good save. That was it for the first half.

The Ninho Boys went in search of a comeback in the second half, pressing their opponents from the first minute. The strategy paid off, and Bill was awarded a penalty in the 11th minute. Edmilson took the penalty with great skill, leveling the score. In the 17th minute, Carlos Eduardo took a free kick, and the Flamengo goalkeeper Caio made a great save, palming it out for a corner. The derby remained tightly contested until the final whistle, and was decided by penalty kicks.

There was excitement in normal time, and excitement in the penalty shootout. Evenly matched until the end, it took three alternating penalty kicks from each team before the title was decided for the Laranjeiras team, which won 6-5 and was crowned champion.

The U-14 team also had a good campaign in the competition, but ended up being defeated by Internacional in the semi-final penalty shootout by 4x2, after a 1x1 draw (Adriel) in regular time, and was left out of the final.
