The classic was very balanced from start to finish. The Garotos do Ninho had more possession and created scoring chances, but conceded a goal late in the second half and left the field defeated, after having the best campaign in the first round of the competition, reaching the final with 13 wins and one draw.

The game started very evenly and remained that way throughout the first half. From then on, the "Garotos do Ninho" (Little Boys) began to press and dominate the opponent on the field. In the 26th minute, Muller took a shot from outside the box without much danger to the Botafogo goalkeeper. In the 33rd minute, Victor took a free kick with great quality, and the ball, which was unstoppable for the goalkeeper, grazed the crossbar. It was the best chance for the "Mais Querido" (Little Boys), who began to dominate and press hard in search of the first goal of the game in the second half.
