This Thursday afternoon (20) in Gávea was not as the Garotos do Ninho expected. Just like the Under-14 team, the Under-13 also lost to Vasco 4-2 on penalties, after a 1-1 draw (Guga) in regulation time, and after having the best campaign in the qualifying phase of the round, ended up missing out on the Guanabara Cup final. The red-and-black team is now preparing for the Rio Cup, still looking for a place in the final of the Metropolitan Championship, the State Championship for the category.

Flamengo started better and went on the attack. In the eighth minute, Matheus CG carried the ball and took a shot from outside the area. The ball went over the bar, posing a threat to João Pedro's goal. But just like in the preliminary match, it was Vasco who opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a goal from Breno. The Flamengo youth team continued to create chances and wasted an incredible opportunity in the 21st minute. Guga crossed the ball, it deflected off the defense and fell to Baloteli. Inside the six-yard box, he touched the ball weakly and saw goalkeeper João Pedro make a great save, preventing Flamengo's equalizing goal.

The pressure was intense. At 29 minutes, Guga again controlled the ball in the area, faced the marking and shot hard. The ball was heading for the top corner, but João Pedro once again flew to it and made another excellent save. From the resulting corner, the defense cleared and Eduardo shot hard first-time, forcing another save from the Vasco goalkeeper, the standout player of the first half and directly responsible for Flamengo not going into halftime with the lead. But at 32 minutes, there was no stopping them. Guga received another ball inside the area and had the composure and intelligence to shoot low between the goalkeeper and the post, finally equalizing the score.

The second half had fewer scoring opportunities, but Flamengo continued to dominate the game. In the 19th minute, Quadrado, who had just come on as a substitute, made a good individual play and shot across goal. Defender Lyncon made a timely tackle, just as the ball was about to pass the goalkeeper, saving Vasco from conceding a second goal. In the 24th minute, Matheus CG took a free kick and Luiz Felipe deflected it for a corner, almost scoring an own goal. From the corner, the ball fell to Baloteli. Free inside the area, his shot was deflected. Flamengo's comeback was taking shape, but the end of regulation time was approaching, and the match went to penalty kicks.

In the penalty shootout, Flamengo scored with Baloteli and Guga, but missed with Matheus CG, whose shot hit the crossbar, and Manaus, who shot over the bar on the final attempt. Vasco won 4-2 and qualified for the tournament final against Fluminense.
