On Saturday afternoon (12), Flamengo hosted Vasco in Gávea, in a classic valid for the semifinal of the Metropolitan Championship U-14, the State Championship of the category. In a very balanced match from start to finish, the Garotos do Ninho confirmed the best overall campaign of the turn and guaranteed a place in the final, by winning the duel 2x1 (Thiago and Diego). The title of the Guanabara Cup will be decided next weekend, when Mais Querido hosts Fluminense, in a single match in Gávea. A draw will take the definition to penalty kicks.

Just three minutes in, Flamengo had their first big chance of the game and nearly opened the scoring when Ryan Luka fired a corner kick just wide of the Vasco goal. In the 3th minute, Richard crossed, and Daniel Campos fired a dangerous first-time shot from the edge of the box. The match remained evenly matched, and Flamengo opened the scoring in the 12th minute. After a cross into the box, Thiago cleverly headed the ball from the edge of the box, surprising goalkeeper Hugo. He stretched out but couldn't reach the ball, which flew over him and into the back of the net. 

Vasco equalized in the 4th minute of the second half. After a corner kick in the box, the ball fell to Marlon, who fired past Christian. In the 18th minute, Ryan Luka missed a good chance with a header. In the 28th minute, Thiago shot from the edge of the box; the ball deflected off the Vasco defender's arm, and even though the ball was heading toward goal, the referee awarded a penalty. Captain Diego calmly beat the goalkeeper and put the "Garotos do Ninho" back in front. In the final minutes of the game, the "Mais Querido" managed to maintain its lead without any scares, and with the victory in the derby, they confirmed their best campaign of the first half and secured a spot in the final next weekend, also at Gávea, in a one-off match against Fluminense.

The most important thing there is confidence and belief in the work we do every day of training. Thank God it worked out, and I was able to help my team with the winning goal, which puts us in another final. We'll celebrate a lot today and tomorrow, but starting Monday we'll be back working hard and focused on the grand final against Fluminense," said captain Diego.
