Hours before departing for the World Cup in Austria, Flamengo's U-15 team, led by coach Mario Jorge, took the field for the second leg of the Guanabara Cup to play the derby against Fluminense at the Laranjeiras Stadium. Focused on the derby and waiting until after the match to think about their World Cup opener against Red Bull Leipzig of Germany, the "Garotos do Ninho" won 3-1 (Diego, Pedrinho, and Ryan Luka) and further isolated themselves at the top of the competition, now with 35 points, compared to Fluminense's 30, which was in second place until the start of the round.

The teams were still warming up on the field when Fluminense opened the scoring with a Joilson header in the fourth minute. The following minute, the Boys from the Nest nearly equalized after a fine individual play by Werton. Richard then arrived deep and crossed for Werton. He struck first time, but his shot was weak, and Cayo made the save without much difficulty. In the 17th minute, after a corner kick, the ball fell to Pedrinho, who only missed the goal because left-back Lucas Ribeiro palmed the ball over the line, earning him a red card. From the penalty spot, the red-and-black captain Diego leveled the score in the derby.

The turning point came in the first half. In the 30th minute, João Pedro took a corner kick, the ball sailed across the Tricolor box, and Pedrinho opportunistically scored the second goal of the match. In the 38th minute, a beautiful move. Miguel noticed goalkeeper Christian out of position and tried a lob from the middle of the field. The ball was supposed to be heading in, but Christian was quick and made a great save, preventing the equalizer and palming it out for a corner.

The Ninho Boys continued to improve in the second half and soon extended their lead. In the 12th minute, Daniel Campos delivered a beautiful pass to Pedrinho. He rolled the ball to Ryan Luka, who tapped it into the back of the net, giving the Mais Querido some peace of mind. 

In the next round, with an alternative team since the starters will be in Austria competing in the category's world cup, Flamengo will host Macaé. The duel is scheduled for Saturday (18), at 15 pm, in Gávea.

With a stellar performance from goalkeeper Pedro Victor, the U-17 team, led by coach Phelipe Leal, drew 0-0 with Fluminense in regulation time, also played at Laranjeiras. In the penalty shootout, Flamengo won 5-3, with the "Garotos do Ninho" (Ninho Boys) scoring perfectly on all their shots (Rhyan, Gabriel Noga, Yuri de Oliveira, Arthur, and Rodrigo Muniz). Wallace missed the fourth penalty for Flamengo. With the bonus point, Flamengo further solidifies its lead in the Taça Guanabara, reaching 43 points. The next match will be on Saturday (18), against Macaé, at Gávea, at 13 pm.
